A look at digital storytelling with mobile devices
Here is my recording from Voice Recorder for iPad. It is only available for the iPad. This app has a timer start and stop function as well as the capability to Name, Date, Add to a folder, Add a note and Trim the recording. You can also download the recordings via Wi-Fi sync or iTunes as well as the usual sharing functions via email, Facebook and YouTube.
PhotoComic has in the past been free but now it is a pay for iPad app. It is not as well featured as Strip Designer or Comic Life but it is quite easy to use nonetheless.
Strip Designer is a great Cartoon/image app for both the iPhone and iPad. It has a range of templates as well as some great image editing features. In addition you can annotate over any of the images as well as add from a range of 'callouts'. It is a 5 star app.

StoryRobe is a great little narratable slideshow app for the iPod iPad. Creating the slideshow is quite easy though I got it wrong in the movie below because you can shift images around to re-order them which makes it a neat app. To add the movie to a blog you first need to upload it to YouTube and then grab the embed code.
SonicPics is a great tool for creating narrated slideshows. It is intuitive and you can move back and forth through the steps. The big advantage with SonicPics is that not only can you share the movie via YouTube but when you email it to a Posterous blog, it will automatically embed and play.
iMotion HD enables you to create stop motion movies. You can capture the movies in a couple of formats, square or HD. When creating the movie you can set the frame capture to automatic or manual adjusting the time interval from 1 second to a maximum of 1 day. You can also use the microphone and/or a second device and another app to remotely trigger the frame capture. The app comes with onion skinning and a grid that need to be turned on to activate them. The app is free but to publish your movie to email or YouTube and the Camera Roll you need to pay in the app for the $2.49, (at the time of writing), upgrade. Again a big advantage is that the emailed movie embeds directly into a Posterous blog.
Cartoonatic has a range of different filter affects to add to your movies. You can upload the movie to your camera roll, YouTube or email it to your Posterous blog.
Silent Film Director allows you to capture video or add an effect to an existing video in the style of movies from past eras. It is available for both the iPod and iPad and again you can upload your videos to YouTube, email them to Posterous or save them locally I have noticed some problems rendering larger movies.
